All the signals from the security system are sent over Alarm.com’s dedicated secure cellular connection for fast and reliable communication. In the event of an emergency, that signal is instantly sent to a Central Monitoring Station, managed by your Security Dealer. There are professional monitoring personnel at the Central Station 24/7 to receive the real-time alarm signals from Alarm.com systems, and dispatch emergency response.
Non-emergency alerts are processed by Alarm.com and sent out based on the rules that you define. For example, you may choose to get an alert when the front door opens between 12-2pm so you know the dog walker showed up.

- Can I use Sonos with wireless access points?
Yes, but only in a BOOST Setup. To extend the range of your Sonos system you can use BOOST, or you can connect another Sonos product directly to your router. Either of these options will create a dedicated Sonos wireless network for your Sonos home sound system.
- Can I use Sonos without an Internet connection or router?
No. Sonos is not designed to work without a broadband Internet connection and a router.
- Do I need a Sonos BOOST?
If your Sonos system is working well you won’t notice a performance increase using BOOST. Get BOOST if -
- Your WiFi doesn't cover all the areas where you want to use Sonos.
- You're using wireless access points to expand the coverage of your WiFi router.
- Your WiFi network is generally unreliable.
Learn more about BOOST here.
- How do I get the Sonos app?
The Sonos app works on Android and iOS mobile devices, plus Windows and Mac PCs. You can find the latest version here.
- How is Sonos different from Bluetooth speakers?
Bluetooth is a short-range wireless solution that works by pairing a Bluetooth speaker to a smart device to access music. Because your smart device and speaker need to be physically close to each other, the wireless range, expandability, and control of a Bluetooth connection can be limited. Sonos speakers connect to one another using the WiFi network in your home. WiFi has greater range and works with multiple devices, which means you can use Sonos to send different music to different speakers at the same time, or the same song (in sync) to all your speakers at once. WiFi also allows you to control any Sonos speaker using the Sonos app on any computer, smartphone or tablet on your network. To compare Sonos and Bluetooth, visit Sonos vs. Bluetooth.
- What is the wireless range of the Sonos system?
It depends on whether your system is using your WiFi network or a dedicated Sonos network. When Sonos is operating on WiFi, the range extends to the range of your WiFi network. As long as your WiFi reaches all the rooms where you want to put a Sonos product, you won't have any issues with range. If your WiFi network isn't reliable, or doesn't reach all the areas where you want to use Sonos, connecting a Sonos product to your router with an Ethernet cable automatically creates a dedicated Sonos wireless network. Each Sonos product you use in your home serves as a wireless repeater to expand the range of our dedicated network.
- What music services work with Sonos?
Please visit the Sonos website to see which music services are available on Sonos in your area.
- What proactive safeguards does Alarm.com use?
If there’s an emergency, we’re one step ahead. If smoke or carbon monoxide is detected, Alarm.com can automatically shut down the heat or AC to stop the circulation of dangerous fumes, and send a signal to emergency personnel.
Alarm.com lets you easily set rules so that your home automatically responds in an emergency to help keep you safe. Alarm.com connect your home’s key devices, like carbon monoxide, smoke detectors, and your heating and AC system, wirelessly to the security panel. Learn more about Safeguards here.
- Will Sonos work with my existing equipment?
For an existing component stereo or home theater system:
Sonos CONNECT links to your system’s amplifier/receiver using standard RCA audio cables, allowing you to use the Sonos app to stream digital music, control volume, and other settings, and send whatever is playing on your existing gear to other Sonos speakers throughout your home.
For passive (wired) speakers without an amp or receiver:
Wire your speakers directly to Sonos CONNECT:AMP using high-quality speaker wire, then use the Sonos app to wirelessly stream digital music and control volume and other settings.

- How do we restart our vacuum once the bag has been changed?
Press and hold the reset button for five seconds.
- When is the best time to do the maintenance on my central vacuum cleaner’s filter?
For a bagless unit, we recommend regular maintenance of the filtration system, in order to ensure your central vacuum’s maximum performance. We also suggest that you clean the anti-clogging filter (thin fabric) every time you empty the dust receptacle (every season). You may either shake it or wash it. As for the CyclofiltreTM, it should be cleaned after four anti-clogging filter cleanings, or approximately once a year. These two filters are machine washable, in cold water without bleach, and must be dried at low temperature. Before replacing the filters, inspect them for tears or punctures because damaged filters must not be reinstalled. Use only genuine Cyclo Vac replacement filters. Failure to do so could void the warranty on your vacuum unit.
- When do I have to change my central vacuum’s filter bag?
Simply change the bag when the one in place is full. Frequency will depend on use of the unit. For the GX series, the DataSync LCD monitor, at the front of the central vacuum unit, will indicate when to change the bag. These indications are provided by an electronic timing board, only as a reference guide. Use only genuine Cyclo Vac replacement bags. Failure to do so could void the warranty on your vacuum unit.
- Are there some materials, besides liquids, that my central cleaning system cannot vacuum?
Yes. We strongly recommend against vacuuming abrasive materials such as cement, plaster and gyprock dust. This fine dust could work its way into the motor, causing considerable damage. Should you do so inadvertently, immediately clean the filters and, as a precautionary measure, contact usto determine the extent of the damage to the unit. Remember that in order for your warranty to remain valid, maintenance of the motor and repairs to the unit itself must be carried out by an authorized service center, using original Cyclo Vac or Trovac parts.
- Can I safely vacuum liquids with my Cyclo Vac central vacuum?
No. Your vacuum cleaning system is designed to collect everyday dry matter (dust). It is approved by authorized testing agencies for dry use only. Do not use on wet surfaces. Should you accidentally vacuum liquids, immediately unplug the unit from the electric outlet, then empty and wipe the dust receptacle with a dry cloth. Then operate the system from the vacuum inlet through which you vacuumed the liquid, in order to eliminate all moisture in the piping system.
- What is the difference between the bagless central vacuum systems and the electrostatic bag systems?
What differentiates these two types of central vacuums is mainly their filtration mode. Indeed, for bagless systems, the first dust barrier consists in the cyclonic circulation of air. The centrifugal force directs the dust particles to the bottom of the dust canister. The machine washable pre-filter then catches any remaining fine dust particles. Finally, our machine washable CyclofiltreTM, treated with Ultra-Fresh* to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold, captures the microparticles. Electrostatic bag systems have a totally different filtration procedure. A convenient disposable electrostatic filter bag captures dust and ensures constant maximum vacuum power. Filtration is further ensured by our CyclofiltreTMwith antimicrobial treatment.
- When the flashing LED over the Bag icon indicates that my filter bag has to be changed, what should I do?
When the LED (light emitting diodes) over the Bag icon is flashing, simply check the bag and change if necessary. You must replace your full bag with a Cyclo Vac electrostatic bag that you can easily get at an authorized dealer. To stop the flashing light, press the on/off button on the hose handle and the reset button on the front of the power unit for 1 second.
- What should I do if I notice a decrease of my central vacuum’s suction strength?
There are a few possible causes that could explain a decrease of your vacuum’s suction strength. Verify if the dirt receptacle or the bag of your central vacuum is full or if the dirt receptacle is improperly attached. It could be also possible that your filters need to be cleaned or replaced, or that the motor guard screen is blocked. You can also check if one of your vacuum inlets is open or if an exhaust line is clogged. We also recommend that you verify if your hose is blocked or if there’s any obstruction in the piping system. To know the corrective action for each causes, please consult the Cyclo Vac owner’s manual. If none of these suggestions restore suction strength, contact us!
- What should I do if my central vacuum doesn’t start?
If your central vacuum doesn't start, there are a few possible causes that have to be verified. First, the electrical power or the low voltage wiring can be connected improperly. It is also possible that one of your vacuum inlets is defective. You can also verify if the unit/in-house circuit breaker is off. Finally, it's possible that the on/off hose is defective. To know the corrective action for each causes, please consult the Cyclo Vac owner's manual. If none of these suggestions help start your vacuum unit, contact us!
- What should I do if my central vacuum system doesn’t stop?
There are a few possible causes that could explain that your central vacuum doesn’t stop. Indeed, this problem could be caused by a defective on/off hose or faulty low voltage wiring. You can also verify if your hose is improperly inserted into the vacuum inlet. To know the corrective action for each causes, please consult the Cyclo Vac owner’s manual. If in spite of these suggestions, your vacuum unit is still not stopping, contact us!
- Does my central vacuum’s motor(s) require occasional lubrication?
Cyclo Vac motors do not require lubrication. Each motor contains two carbon brushes which will wear normally and may eventually require replacement. We recommend that you have your unit and motors inspected by us every 5-6 years.
